HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 03251986 - 86-155 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of designating 1986 ) as the "Tenth Anniversary of the ) Resolution No. 86/155 California Coastal Act of 1976" and ) April as the "Month of the Coast" ) WHEREAS, The people of California have made protection of the state' s coast one of their highest priorities, as evidenced by the passage of Proposition 20 in 1972: and WHEREAS, Public opinion polls indicate that people still support the clause in the California Coastal Act of 1976 which states "the permanent protection of the state' s natural and scenic resources is a paramount concern to present and future residents of the state and nation" ; and WHEREAS, The California coast has continued to be the basis for significant economic benefit to the state in the form of tourism, fishing, forestry, coastal-dependent agriculture, and other business activities; and WHEREAS, The full goals of the California Coastal Act of 1976 have not yet been achieved and will require continued application of the act's policies; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, California, hereby designate 1986 as the "Tenth Anniversary Year of the California Coastal Act of 1976" ; and be it further RESOLVED, That April be designated as the "Month of the Coast" to celebrate and honor one of the state' s and the country' s greatest resources, the California coast. PASSED and ADOPTED by unanimous vote of the Board on the twenty-fifth day of March 1986. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
