HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 03181986 - 86-130 I/l IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA I In the Matter of Congratulating ) James L: Henderson on his ) RESOLUTION N0. 86/130 Retirement from Public Health ) i i WHEREAS James L. Henderson, Health Education Coordinator in the Public Health Division of the Health Services Department, will be retiring from his job on March 31, 1986; and WHEREAS Jim Henderson was awarded a scholarship from the University of California, Berkeley where he completed his Master's Degree in Public Health in 1961; and WHEREAS Jim Henderson, upon completion of his field training with the Contra Costa County Health Department, accepted an International Health Consultant position with the Ford Foundation, serving in Puerto Rico, England, Sweden, Germany, and Yugoslavia, and then went as a Family Planning Consultant in India's Ministry of Health; and WHEREAS Jim also worked for the World Health Organization until his return to the United States in late 1963, whereupon he took the position of Health Educator: for the Contra Costa County Health Department; and WHEREAS Jim, as a Health Educator, has provided field training in Contra Costa County for over 70 Master of Public Health Educators for U. C. Berkeley, San Jose State University, San Francisco State University, Sacramento State University, Loma Linda University, U.C.L.A., and other Midwest and East Coast schools of Public Health in the past 22 years; and WHEREAS his high priority item in chronic disease has been smoking education in public groups, schools, and city and County employees, teaching smoking cessation and also training many others to teach the clinics; and WHEREAS Jim is an international chef, a professional singer, and a jewelry designer, and is looking forward to spending his time in these hobbies and in traveling to Asia, Africa and Europe; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, California hereby CONGRATULATES Jim L. Henderson upon his retirement and EXTENDS to Jim Henderson its heartfelt thanks for all his efforts in behalf of Public Health Education. PASSED on March 18, 1986 by unanimous vote of the Board members present.
