Pacific Bell on Receiving the ) RF X=ON NO. 84/305
Contra Costa Medal Award )
WFHNMS Pacific Bell is a recognized leader in the field of
canmunication, a corporate giant in California with a workforce of
approximately 3,000 employees in Contra Costa County; and
WHEREAS Pacific Bell has extensive real estate holdings in
Contra Costa County totalling approximately 1,000,000 square feet of
industrial and office space distributed among 31 buildings owned by
said Company and 52 leased facilities with a property tax bill in 1983
amounting to $5.5 million; and
WHEREAS Pacific Bell has encouraged private enterprise and
supported many worthwhile activities through its corporate contribu-
tions to non-profit organizations; and
SAS Pacific Bell in recognizing the needs of the com-
munity has worked cooperatively with local jurisdictions in the
planning and development of its project sites, particularly evident
in the planned San Ramon Valley Project, which will culminate in the
construction of a project utilizing the latest concepts in energy con-
servation technology to produce a facility that is environmentally
sound and aesthetically appealing; and
W MMS the San Ramon Valley Project will improve econanic
conditions in Contra Costa County by providing employment to thousands
of professionals, artisans, journeymen, and tradesmen in the oonstruc-
tion phase of the project, and upon completion will house a workforce
of 7,500;
NOW, ZORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Contra Costa offers its congratulations to Pacific
Bell on being named the recipient of the Contra Costa Medal Award for
.continuing business development and community participation and
EXTENDS its best wishes for continued success in the future.
PASSED BY THE BOARD on May 22, 1984 by unanimous vote of the
Board members present.
