I RESOLZIPION NO. 84/ 182
MERW George W. McClure graduated from the University of California at
Berkeley, Phi Beta Kappa, in 1940, and thereafter studied Chinese politics,
history and language at Yenching University, Peking, China; and
SAS George McClure was a Lieutenant in the U. S. Navy during the
Second World War and served as a Japanese language interpreter and intelligence
officer on the staff of Admiral Nimitz; and
WFffiEAS George McClure graduated from the Boalt Hall Law School of the
University of California at Berkeley in 1949 and was admitted to the California
Bar in 1950; and
S George McClure entered the service of Contra Costa County as a
Deputy District Attorney on May 8, 1950, was promoted to Chief Deputy District
Attorney - Civil in 1961 and served in the District Attorney's Office until
1969; and
WAS upon creation of the Office of the County Counsel in 1969, George
McClure became the Chief Deputy County Counsel and has served in that capacity
to date; and
FSS George McClure served as a Director of the Contra Costa County
Employees Association, Local 1675 AFSCME, AFL-CIO, from 1953 to 1960 and as
President in 1958-59, and has maintained a continuing concern for the interests
of County employees; and
%W21EAS George McClure served as a Director of the Contra Costa County
Bar Association frau 1960 to 1975, and as a member of the California State Bar
Association Committee on the Administration of Justice, reviewing and drafting
laws proposed by the Law Revision Commission, the Judicial Council, and the
State Bar, from 1968 to the present; and
VREFTAS George McClure is noted for his well researched and authorita-
tively supported legal advice and for his cryptic comments in green ink on
letters, memoranda, and advice requests; and
V& George McClure has served as legal advisor to many County
Departments and to the Retirement Board, and has established a state-wide repu-
tation as an expert on retirement matters; and
GMME'AS George McClure is retiring from County Service on March 30, 1984;
NOW, THEFMOM0, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS hereby
extends its appreciation to George W. McClure for his many years of dedicated
County service and expresses its best wishes to him during his years in
retirement.

AYES: Supervisors Powers, Fanden, Schroder, MCPeak, Torlakson
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
