Clausen,) County Counsel ) RESOLUTION NO. 84/ 181 WHEREAS John B. Clausen is retiring from County service effective March 30, 1984; and S John Clausen served as an officer in the Army in the Pacific Theatre during the Second World War and subsequently graduated from Michigan State College in 1946 and fran Hastings Law College in 1951; and WHEREAS John Clausen was appointed Deputy District Attorney I on July 270, 1953, and advanced to Deputy District Attorney II on December 19, 1957, and to Assistant District Attorney on November 3, 1959; and WHEREAS during the time of his service in the District Attorney's Office, that office performed both criminal and civil functions and Mr. Clausen served as an advisor to County departments and school districts and as a member of the County Planning Commission; and FSS from April 8, 1969 to August 19, 1969 John Clausen served as the Acting District Attorney of Contra Costa County; and S the Board of Supervisors determined in 1969 to separate the District Attorney's civil functions by creation of the Office and Department of County Counsel; and S on August 19, 1969 John Clausen was named the first Contra Costa County Counsel and has served continuously in that position having been reap- pointed by the Board of Supervisors at the end of each four-year term; and MEAS during his period of County service, Mr. Clausen has won the respect of members of the Board, County officials and the public, as well as the legal community here and throughout the State; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board hereby expresses its appre- ciation to John Clausen for his many years of service to the County, and extends its Best Wishes and Happy Golfing to him, and his wife Nadine, during their retirement years.
