HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES - 05141991 - 91-26 ORDINANCE N0. 91- 26 (Requirements for vehicles Transporting Refuse) The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors ordains as follows (omitting the parenthetical footnotes from the official test of the enacted or amended provisions of the County Ordinance Code) : SECTION I. SUMMARY. This ordinance amends County Ordinance Code section 418-2 . 008 to require all vehicles transporting refuse to a solid waste disposal or processing facility to be covered. SECTION II . Section 418-2 . 008 of the County Ordinance Code is amended, to provide that all vehicles transporting refuse to a solid waste disposal or processing facility must be covered, to read: 418-2 .008 Vehicle Requirements . (a ) Every vehicle transporting refuse to a solid waste disposal or processing facility shall provide a means to cover and contain refuse securely within the vehicle, so that no refuse shall escape. (b) Every vehicle used in the business of refuse collection shall have painted on the outside of each side wall of the hauling body, in letters not less than four inches high and one inch wide, the following legible information in a color contrasting with the body color: ( 1 ) Name of the refuse collector; ( 2 ) Permit number issued by the Board of Supervisors; ( 3 ) Number of vehicle, if more than one vehicle is operated by the collector. (c) Collecting vehicles shall be kept clean, and no nuisance of odor committed. (Ord. 91-26 § 2 : prior code § 4503 : Ord. 1443 . ) SECTION III. Section 418-2 . 010 of the County Ordinance Code Is amended, to reflect the appropriate sections of 418-2 . 008, as newly amended, to read: 418-2.010 Chapter Exceptions . The provisions of this chapter, except Section 418-2 . 008 (a) and (c) , ' shall not apply to a septic tank-chemical toilet cleaner as defined in Section 413- 3 . 415 , having a valid, unrevoked, unsuspended public health license issued therefor pursuant to the provisions of Article 413-3 . 8, and to persons collecting: ( 1 ) Dead animals, bones , or meat scraps for tallow plants; ORDINANCE NO. 91- 26 ( 2 ) Waste material, such as waste paper and waste paper products , to be used as a raw material in manufacturing; ( 3 ) Refuse originating on their own premises . (Ords . 91- 26 S 3; 82-42 S 2: prior code 5 4504 : Ord. 1443 . ) SECTION IV. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance becomes effective 30 days after passage, and within 15 days after passage shall be published once with the names of the supervisors voting for and against it in the Contra Costa Times, a newspaper in this County.
