ORDINANCE NO. 84- 18
(Penalties for Infractions and Misdemeanors)
The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors ordains as
follows (omitting the parenthetical footnotes from the official
text of the enacted or amended provisions of the County Ordinance
Code) :
SECTION I. Section 14-8 . 004 of the County Ordinance Code is
amended to read:
14-8 . 004 Violation - Punishment. (a) Infractions . Except
as otherwise provided by statute or this code, every infraction
violation of this code is punishable, upon conviction thereof, by:
(1) A fine not exceeding one hundred dollars for a
first violation;
(2) A fine not exceeding two hundred dollars for a second
violation of the same ordinance within one year;
(3) A fine not exceeding five hundred dollars for each
additional violation of the same ordinance within one year.
(b) Misdemeanors. Except as otherwise provided by state law
or this code, every misdemeanor violation of this code is punishable,
upon conviction thereof, by imprisonment in the county jail for not
over six months and/or by a fine of not over one thousand dollars.

SECTION II. EFFECTIVE DATE.
This ordinance becomes effective 30 days after passage , and
within 15 days after passage shall be published once, with the names
of the supervisors voting for and against it, in the MARTINEZ NEWS-GAZETTE
, a newspaper published in this County.
PASSED on Anril 10, 1984 by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors - Powers, Fanden, Schroder, McPeak, Torlakson.
NOES: Supervisors - None.
ABSENT: Supervisors - None.
