An Ordinance Granting Permission to the Rodeo-Vallejo Ferry Company To
Erect, Keep and Operate a Public Ferri, On the Arm of the Bay and the Waters
Thereof Dividing Solana County and Contra Costa County.
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, State of California
do ordain as follows:-
ER AS the Rodeo-Vallejo Ferrer Company, a corporation organized and
existing under the laws of the State of California, has heretofore filed with this
Board, its petition that it be granted a franchise to erect a public Ferry over
an arm and the waters of the Bay of San Pablo to operate between the torn of Rodeo
in Contra Costa County and the City of Vallejo in Solana County; and

the Board that prior to making this application at the time and in the manner
rewired by law,~aused three notices of the Making of this application for,the
franchise to be posted in three public places in each township where the landing
of said Ferre are tc be located, to-wit : In township Noll and in Vallejo Township
and. it likewise caused a like notice to be published in a newspaper of general
circulation in the City of Vallejo, Solana County,California, and in the City of
Martinez, County of Contra Costa, Cali.iornia, f:or the time and in the manner
provided by lay,; and it appearing further upon hearing duly had before this Boa.rd'.
that the said petitioner, the Rodeo-Vallejo Ferry Company is the owner of the
landings, wharf's, Wharf rights, franchise and right of way intent: d, to be
employed and used in the operation of said Ferry and of the approaches thereto,
and of certain grants in the said petition particularly described; and
WHEREAS it further appears that, the said Ferry line will be a public
necessity and convenience and that the petitioner is a suitable operator to
conduct the same and that by reason of the ownership of said landings is entitled
thereto and authorized to collect tolls thereof as provided by lair,
MCW, HEREFORE, the Board. of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa,
State of California., de ordain as follows
SECTIO! 1. A franchise is hereby granted unto the rodeo-Vallejo Ferry
Company,a corporation organized and existing under the laws of the State of
California, and haviag its principal place of business at the town of Rodeo,
Contra. Costa.. County, for a period of twenty (20) years from and after the final
passage of this Ordinance, to erect, keep and maintain and operate:a public
ferry from the town of Rodeo, Contra Costa. County, State of California, to the
Cita~ of Vallejo, Solano County, State of California, and .frorz the following
landings -therein .owned, possessed and held by the Rodeo-VAllejo Ferry Company
as follows:- t the town of Rodeo from that certain wharf granted unto
Alper and N. Chlandt by an order of the Board of Supervisors of Contra. Costa
County on the 7th day of November, 1910,and which is recorded in the office of
the County Recorder of said county in Volume 161 of Leeds , page 1, Township No.
10 in the Supervisor District No. 1 of said county, and being within the
following boundaries:-
Beginning
oundaries:-Beginning at a point on the Northern boundary, line of the right of way
of the Aorthern Railway Co_mpany's near Lone Tree point distant 1500 feet; thence
Southwesterly from the Northeast corner o: lands formerly belonging to the
Union Stock yard Company; thence north 200 10' West to fourfathom depth of water t
at ordinary low tide; ,thence Southwesterly along the four fathom line as aforesai�'
1000 feet to station; thence South 200 101 Fast to the line of ordinary high
:rater on the Southern shore of the :Bay of San Pablo; thence on the Northeasterly
and Southeasterly line along the line of ordinary high water as aforesaid to the
point
of beginning., At the City of Vallejo, County of Selano, at the municipal
wharf `mown as the Lsmon Street Wharf, a leasehold interest in }rich was by the
said City of Vallejo rented. by Ordinance No. 267 N. S. unto A. J. Hanford on the
18th day of Urch 1918, and whi.ch w asthereafter by said Hanford by grant duly
conveyed unto the Rodeo-Vallejo Ferry Company which is now the owner and holder
whereof.
SECTION 2. That the said Rodeo-Vallejo ferry Company is hereby
authorized to collect and take such tolls and :ake such charges of ferry service
as it may hereafter be authorized by lac: to so collect, take and charge.

SECTION 3. The ar.3=ual license fee of the said Rodeo-Valleja Ferry
Company for operat-_na- the said Verry lime is hereby fixed at the sura! of

continuance thereof.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance is granted upon the condition that the said
Rodeo-Vallejo Ferry Company, grantee herein, do execute a penal bond in the, sum.
