SPECIFIC RFOUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUS-1'll'ICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director,or designee,to execute a Consulting Services Agreement with Winzler & Kelly Consulting Engineers in the amount of$165,940 for,civil engineering services on Byron Highway Shoulder Widening between Byron Hot Springs Road and 550 feet south of Rankin Road,for the period of June 3, 2008 through June 3, 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: This contract amount of$165,940 is funded by Proposition 1B (100%). There is no impact to the general fund. DATE: June 3, 2008 PAGE: 2 of 2 REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS AND BACKGROUND: The Public Works Department is currently involved in a number of projects countywide which require immediate civil engineering services in order to meet funding deadlines. Some.of these projects include Proposition 1 B funds released by the State and approved by voters last fall. After following our standard solicitation and interview process, Winzler&Kelly Consulting Engineers was one of 4 firms selected to provide civil engineering services on these Proposition 113 projects. Winzler&Kelly Consulting Engineers will provide design services and engineering expertise in order to meet the accelerated project schedule for the Byron Highway Shoulder Widening between Byron Hot Springs Road and Rankin Road. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, the design and construction of this county project will be delayed. CONSULTING SERVICES AGREEMENT 1. Special Conditions.
