RECOMMENDATION:
AUTHORIZE and APPROVE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to
execute a contract amendment with Family Stress Center effective June 30, 2008 to increase
the payment limit by$8,750 to a new contract payment limit of$73,750 and extend the term from
June 30, 2008 to August 15, 2008, to provide continued Child Welfare Redesign Differential
Response Program Case Management Services.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$73,750: 100% State Child Welfare Redesign Differential Response Program Grant Funds; no
County Costs

SUBJECT: Amend Contract with Family Stress Center for Child Welfare Redesign

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
These contracts support two of the community outcomes established in the Children's Report
Card: 4) "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and 5) "Communities that are Safe and
Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families," by providing intervention for families at-
risk of becoming involved with the Child Welfare System.
BACKGROUND:
The Employment and Human Services Department, Children and Family Services (CFS) Bureau
is implementing Child Welfare (CWS) Redesign to enhance current service delivery and improve
outcomes for children and families. The redesign plan includes providing early intervention
services, developing community partnerships, and increasing the number of foster families.
This contract amendment will ensure continued services while the Employment and Human
Services Department completes the open bid process, Request for Proposal (RFP) 1102.
