(District II) :Project No. 0662-6R4215-02 SPECIFIC RFQUES'I'(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&.13ACKGROUND AND.IUSTIFIC11ION RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE project contingency fund increase of$120,000.00 effective June 3, 2008 to compensate Bay Cities Paving and Grading, Inc. for additional wort: for the Parker Avenue Reconstruction Project, Rodeo area. (.District 11) FISCAL, IMPACT: The project contingency funds are currently insufficient to cover the increased cost. The increase in contingency Binds will be landed by 50'io Contra Costa County Redevelopment, 241/'o Rodeo Crockett Transportation Improvement Fund, and 26% Loan to Public Works from Redevelopment. (District II) Project No. 0662-6R4215-02 DATE: June 3, 2008 PAGE: 2 of 2 REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS AND BACKGROUND: Additional funding is needed to pay the contractor for bid item quantities that exceeded the original contract quantities and change orders for additional work, including electrical upgrades, traffic sign changes, manual watering of plants, and maintenance of the landscaping improvements prior to the official start of the .five-year maintenance period. The additional quantities costs exceed the project contingency fiend. Approval of the project contingency fund increase is required to compensate the contractor for the additional work. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The lack of approval would prevent successful completion of this contract and preclude payment to the contractor for required work.
