CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports
three of Contra Costa County's community outcomes - Outcome 1: "Children Ready
for and Succeeding in School," Outcome 3: "Families that are Economically Self-
sufficient," and, Outcome 4: "Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing." These
outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early
childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout
Contra Costa County.

Start. These funds will assist the Department to provide grandparent support groups,
parenting classes that support child development, assistance for grandparents
navigating State and local services systems, legal services referrals as well as many
other supportive programs.
If awarded, the County will have opportunity to renew the grant for an additional two
years, for a total allocation of$150,000 over the three year period.
The application was reviewed and approved by the Head Start Policy Council on May
21, 2008.
