RECONVNI EN DATION(S):
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Haven Fearn) to execute on behalf of
the County, Contract #24-443-28 with Adolescent Treatment Centers, Inc., a non-profit corporation, in an
amount ]lot to exceed S1 18,710, to provide Alcohol and Drug Program Services for the period from July 1,
2008 through June 30, 2009.
FISCAI.. IMPACT
This Contract is funded 100%by Federal Adolescent Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment (SAPT).
CHILDREN'S IIN1PACT STATEMENT:
This program supports the following Board of Supervisors' community outcomes: "Children Ready For
and Succeeding in School"; "Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing"; and "Communities that are
Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families". Expected program outcomes include
an increase in positive social and emotional development as measured by the Child and Adolescent
Functional Assessment Scale (CAF AS).
BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S):
This Contract meets the social needs of County's Population In that it provides a specialized Substance
Abuse Treatment (SAT) program so that addicted youth are provided an opportunity to recover from the
effects of alcohol and other drug use, become self-sufficient, and return to their families and comrll1.rllities
as productive individuals.
On August 7, 2007, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #24-443-27 with Adolescent Treatment
Centers., Inc., for the period from July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008, for the provision of Adolescent
Residential Chemical Dependency Treatment Program at its Thunder Road facility in Oakland.
Approval of Contract #24-443-28 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through June
30, 2009.
