FISCAL IMPACT: This action will result in no Net County Cost. BACKGROUND: In 2001 the requirement to attend Peace Officers Training Certification (POST)was extended from the Basic Course to the more comprehensive Specialized Investigators Basic Course. This requirement extended to both the Social Service Welfare Fraud Investigations Supervisor and the Social Service Welfare Fraud Investigator positions. Internal Social Service Welfare Fraud Investigators have primarily functioned as overpayment specialists responsible for client error case reviews and computation of any resulting overpayments. The evolution of duties no longer necessitates the POST Certification requirement for this classification. The investigator positions will be reclassified as Social Service Program Assistants. Re-allocating an Eligibility Work Supervisor I to the Fraud Unit to supervise and coordinate the mandated functions of the Income Eligibility Verification System (IEVS) and overpayment functions of this work unit in order to meet the deadlines imposed by the State.
