RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with
ENGEO Incorporated, to increase the payment limit by$95,835 to a new payment limit of$274,343 and to extend
the term from April 30, 2008 to April 30, 2009 to act as General Manager of the Wiedemann Ranch Geologic
Hazard Abatement District (GHAD)

FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no impact to the County General Fund. The Wiedemann Ranch GHAD is funded 100% through
assessments levied on properties within the boundaries of the GHAD.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS AND BACKGROUND:
The Contra Costa County Public Works Department, who acts as a liaison between the GRAD and the Board of
Directors under the provisions of a Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement,dated January 26, 1999,initiated an effort
in February 2005 on behalf of the Board of Directors to seek qualification statements for the Wiedemann Ranch
GHAD. The Public Works Department recommended to award a contract for a three-year period,from May 1,2005
through April 30, 2008 to ENGEO Incorporated to act as General Manager.
Pursuant to Section 30 of the Contract, the County has the right to extend the term of the contract for an additional
period not to exceed threc years. In order to continue the services provided by ENGEO under that contract, the
Public Works Department recommends that the completion date for services provided under the contract be
extended from April 30, 2008 to April 30, 2009, and the payment limit be increased by $95,835.00 from
$178,508.00 to $274,343.00, to cover services provided during the extended term.
CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If the contract amendment is not approved, the GHAD will have a lapse in management and oversight of GHAD
activities.
