SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Department, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Language Line Services, Inc., effective July 1, 2008, with no change in the payment limit of$600,000 and no change in the term of April 1, 2008 through March 31, 2009 to provide for the use of specialized 3-way communication Language Line telephone equipment. BACKGROUND: Contractor was selected through the competitive process (Request for Proposal #1097) to provide telephone interpretation, onsite interpretation, and document translation services to non- English speaking recipients of Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD) services. This Board Order seeks approval to amend contract to provide for the rental of specialized 3- way Language Line telephone equipment to enable confidential 3-way communication between the non-English speaking EHSD client, EHSD staff, and Language Line interpreter. Telephones will be placed in various EHSD district offices. 19-403-1
