BACKGROUND:
1
Parent aides are professionally trained individuals who provide crucial support to the
J Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD), Child and Family Services Bureau social
workers in the areas of transportation and supervised parent visitation. The main goal of the
parent aide service program is to provide supervision to parents during visits with their children
I placed out of the family home, ensuring the safety of the child as well as the parent. Supervised
visitation is court-ordered.
Parent aides assist parents in building self-confidence, self-esteem and coping skills by
demonstrating and modeling appropriate parent/child intervention.
