Director of Human Resources r �4o �o:_ r_ _GA� DATE: June 17, 2008 SrA`Cou County SUBJECT: P300 # 20575 — Public Defender SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number120575, reallocating the classification of Chief Investigator Public Defender-Exempt (6EH1)on the salary schedule from salary level B85 1723($5,768-$7,011)to salary level B851.805 ($6,381-$7,756), as recommended by the Assistant County Administrator-Human Resources Director. FISCAL IMPACT: Upon approval,this action will result in an annual General Fund cost of$10,160,which will be absorbed within the adopted Public Defender budget. BACKGROUND: The Department requests salary reallocation for the Chief Investigator Public Defender-Exempt due to salary increase given to represented Public Defender Investigator l - II during labor negotiations. The increase has resulted in compaction with the Chief ,Investigator Public Defender- Exempt classification. The recommended reallocation will cure the compacted salary interval between the respective management supervisory classilfcation and subordinate job classes. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this request is not approved, the consequence of negative action will result in the continued co pactio of salary between the classification of Public Defender Investigator I L II and the Chief Investigator Pu c efende r-`Exemp .
