RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number 20560, to add:
nine (9) Mental Health Community Support Worker I (VQWE) full-time positions at salary level QT5 0875
($2,491-$3,028),
one (1) Mental Health Community Support Worker II (VQVB) full-time position at salary level QT5 0968
($2,731-$3,320), I
five (5) Mental Health Specialist II (VQVA) full-time positions at salary level QT21262 ($3,765-$5,320), and
one(1) Mental Health Clinical Specialist (VQSB) full-time position at salary level QT2 1362 ($4,157-$6,171)
as recommended by the Assistant County Ad inistrator-Human Resources Director.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon approval, this action will result in an annual cost of $1,249,586.26 is funded from Mental Health Services Act
(Proposition 63)funds and is budgeted in the 2008/2009 fiscal year.

BACKGROUND:
One of the overall goals of the Mental Health Services Act is to increase consumer and family member employment
and involvement in the public mental health system. These positions are an expansion of the Mental Health Division's
original Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Community Services & Supports three-year plan, and focus on systems
development activities. The Mental Health Community Support Worker I positions will provide non-clinical peer
support for recovery of children and adult consumers and their families. The Mental Health Community Support
Worker II position will also provide peer support, as well as lead direction to the Community Support Worker I staff.
The Mental Health Specialist II positions will pirovide wrap-around services as part of the child/family support teams.
The Mental Health Clinical Specialist will be assigned to Mental Health Services Act/Older Adult Program.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this request is not approved, the Division will not be have sufficient staff to meet it's goal of increasing-consumer and
family member employment and involvement in the public mental health system.
