BACKGROUND The Board of Supervisors requested a comprehensive evaluation of the management attorney classes within the District Attorney, Public Defender, and County,,Counsel Offices to determine the degree of compaction between unrepresented management classifications and represented classifications due to a ecently negotiated wage djustme t for the Deputy District Attorneys. Attorneys in the Department of Child Support Services(DCSS)were formerly a part of the District Attorneys Office and the DCSS Attorney classes were subsequently evaluated as a separate part of the study. Based on the results of the study, which, in part, s't'owed compaction exists (less than 10%spread) between management and the classifications management supervises, we are recommending a salary reallocation of the above listed classifications. The reallocation requested above addresses the compaction, internal equity and "roll up"of the negotiated Deputy District Attorney wage package. It does not address external market comparisons. The management classification, even after the adjustment will remain below the external market. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Internal equity will be compromised.
