FISCAL IMPACT: The entry fee is $45 for each submittal. Contra Costa is submitting seven applications, which totals $315. The entry fee was paid out of the County Administrator Office's budget. BACKGROUND: In May, the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) invited counties to enter their 2008 Challenge Awards competition. The program is intended to recognize the innovative and creative spirit of county governments, who look to find new and effective ways.of providing programs and services to their constituents. The deadline for entry was a postmark of June 12, 2008. Contra Costa County submitted the following seven applications for the 2008 CSAC Challenge Awards: • Children Exposed to Domestic Violence DVD • Contra Costa County, CDBG/HOME Streamlined Program • Contra Costa County's Rides Ito Success Program Response to Intervention Collaboration • The Incredible Years Program • Contra Costa County Planner�By Appointment Program a Pet Emergency Preparedness Project Due to the cancellation of the Board of Supervisors' June 10 meeting, the required authorization letter could not be.obtained from the Board in time for submittal. Therefore, an authorization letter from the County Administrator was submitted and is attached.
