BACKGROUND /REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS
The Public Works Department has requested $30,000 in Park Dedication Funds to help
finance improvements to La Moine Park. While physically located in Richmond, the 3.3
acre La Moine Park is adjacent to the El Sobrante community and serves many residents
of the unincorporated area. The project consisted of converting an unused parking lot into
a children's play area with equipment chosen using a community input process The area
now has new landscaping, including a new irrigation system, and shade for the new
benches around the play area. The total cost of the project was $151,000.
Staff recommends approval of the request. There are sufficient funds in the EI Sobrante
Park Dedication account to pay for this renovation project. It is the policy of the County to
utilize park dedication funds to meet local park needs. This action is consistent with that
policy and the EI Sobrante Valley Parks Study dated January 2001.
