CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports
three of Contra Costa County's community outcomes - Outcome 1: "Children Ready
for and Succeeding in School," Outcome 3: "Families that are Economically Self-
sufficient," and, Outcome 4: "Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing." These
outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early
childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout
Contra Costa County.
BACKGROUND:
On June 26, 2007, the Board approved a contract with Cambridge Community Center
to provide Head Start program wraparound services to forty (40) program eligible
children between the ages of three (3) to five (5) years in the Central Contra Costa
County region. Department program staff has since determined it necessary to
increase the number of slots allocated to this program to forty-four (44); the additional
children to begin receiving services April 1, 2008.
