RECOMMENDATION:
AUTHORIZE and APPROVE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to
execute contracts with the organizations listed below in an amount not to exceed $115,000, to
provide domestic violence consultation services for the period July 1, 2008 through June 30,
2009.

SUBJECT: Contract for Domestic Violence Consulting Services
FISCAL IMPACT:
$115,000: 100% County Funds
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
This contract supports all of the community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card:
1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; 2) "Children and Youth Healthy and
Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; 3) "Families that are Economically Self Sufficient"; 4)
"Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a
High Quality of Life for Children and Families," by providing consultation services to clients.
BACKGROUND:
Domestic Violence (DV) consultant Liaisons provide domestic violence case-specific
consultation, guidance, and support to EHSD Children and Family Services (CFS) staff,
enhancing the collaboration between Children and Family Services and other agencies
addressing domestic violence and developing interventions which include safety plans for family
members affected by violence. Services include assisting with lethality assessments, resource
information, interfacing between CFS and other agencies, assisting CFS staff on home visits,
ongoing CFS staff domestic violence training, developing protocols, procedures, training
materials and assessment tools for staff use, and serving on the Domestic Violence Workgroup
and other committees.
