SUBJECT: Approval of Contract#26-362-9 with Apheresis Care Group, Inc
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Jeff Smith, M.D.), to execute on
behalf of the County, Contract #26-362-9 with Apheresis Care Group, Inc., a corporation, in an
amount not to exceed $600,000, for the provision of therapeutic apheresis services to patients at
Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, for the period from April 1, 2008 through March 31, 2011.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Enterprise I funds. Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As appropriate, patients
and/or third party payors will be billed for services.
BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S):
On March 15, 2005, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-362-7 (as amended by
Assignment (Release Assignor) Agreement #26-362-8) with Dobri Kiprov, M.D., Inc., now owned
and operated by Apheresis Care Group, Inc., to provide the necessary equipment and qualified
professional staff to conduct therapeutic apheresis services, such as therapeutic plasmapheresis and
hemodialysis procedures, at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, for the period from April 1, 2005
through March 31, 2008.
Approval of Contract #26-362-9 will allow Apheresis Care Group, Inc., to continue to provide
therapeutic apheresis services,through March 31, 2011.
