BACKGROUND: The Office of the Sheriff is requesting the addition of this part-time position to provide additional fingerprint technical support to the Central Identification Services Unit due to an increase of workload. Central Identification Services (CIS) currently has 20 staff members handling an extremely large workload. The CIS Unit is a 24-hour a day operation and the staff processes an extensive amount of work. Since September 1999, a temporary Fingerprint Technician has been employed to handle workload and staffing fluctuations. The needs of the operation have increased to the point that a permanent part-time employee is needed to supplement current staffing levels. Costs associated with establishing a permanent part-time position will be fully offset by cancellation of the current tgmporary Fingerprint Technician and from funding from the Regi ma ccess Network RAN funck RAN Board minutes approving the re oca Ion of fun In Is ransactlon are attached.
