SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
ADOPT Resolution No. 2008/301 declaring May 2008 as Foster Parent Recognition Month in Contra
Costa County, as recommended by the Employment and Human Services Director.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact from this declaration.
BACKGROUND:
Contra Costa County has over 415 foster parents, adoptive parents, and concurrent planning foster
parent homes, who are a vital part of working to establish life-long connections for children and youth
by helping prepare them to return home, to live with another family or offering permanency by
adopting them. There are currently 1,650 children in foster care in Contra Costa County being
provided with a safe, secure and stable home. By declaring May 2008 as Foster Parent Recognition
