Employment& Human Services Department Page Two CA CSD/ HEAP &Wx(0613-5356,Amend 6) April 8, 2008 CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports three of Contra Costa County's community outcomes - Outcome 1: "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School," Outcome 3: "Families that are Economically Self- sufficient," and, Outcome 4: "Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing." These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County. BACKGROUND: In late 2005, the Board authorized the Department to accept funds from the California Department of Community Services and Development in support of the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) and weatherization services which is operated by the Department's Community Services Bureau in partnership with County Building Inspection Department. Since contract execution, the agreement has been amended to reflect the merger of Community Services Department with Employment & Human Services Department and to add funds to the contract. This amendment is to extend the term and to specify new reporting requirements. Approval of this amendment will allow for the continuation of HEAP and weatherization services to low-income individuals and families in Contra Costa County.
