established. The civilian criminalist class series is now more uniformed for the three (3) different forensic disciplines, Criminology,
Toxicology and Fingerprint examination and now allows the department to begin hiring experienced criminalistic scientists to address
specific needs within their DNA, firearms and trace evidence units in order to respond to changing technology and addressing DNA
backlog concerns.
This action establishes a civilian supervisory career ladder for the new Criminalist positions and reclassifies one incumbent from Senior
Forensic Toxicologist to Forensic Supervisor. This newly established supervisory class appropriately reflects the duties and
responsibilities in support of the new restructure and insures adequate supervision and oversight to Criminalists. It also parallels the
nomenclature of the civilian Criminalists career ladder.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this request is not approved, the reorganization of the Forensics Division will not have adequate supervision nor appropriately compensate
the incumbent`for duties performed outside of his classification.
