WHEREAS, Oak Grove Intermediate School opened its doors on October 27, 1958, serving a student
population of Seventh and Eighth Graders; and
WHEREAS, the first Principal of Oak Grove Intermediate School, Joe i-launer, served from 1958 until his
death in 1972; and
WHEREAS, the second Principal, Bill Smith, served.,from.. 1972 until his retirement in 1982, when the Board
of Education honored Mr. Smith with the Best`;in'District for.Parent Communication'; and
WHEREAS, Sandra Buck served.as Principal from 1982 through 1984; and::,.,
WHEREAS, in 1985, under Principal Mark O'Brien, sixth,graders arrived; prompting the schoolto change
its name to Oak.Grove Middle School;:and
WHEREAS, from,L986 through::..1.987...:lohti.:Damolian served as Principal;.and.::;
WHEREAS, Dr. Audrey Wagman became Principal in 1988, implementing,more. hands-on, active learning
projects, and remained until she retired in 2002; and ...........
WHEREAS; Oak Grove Middle School began its emphasis..on diversity during the 19907s with Multi-
Cultural Career:Days, which brought in a wide variety of speakers;:::::::This proud tradition continues
today ..with. the annual Multi-Cultural Celebration; with support 'from; the Monument Corridor
community; and

WHEREAS, Oak Grove.:Middle:.School.was..recognized-as.. a California..Pistinguished School in 1996, and
was.accepted as a member of.the Bay.Area School Refortil,Group,iii 1997;and
WHEREAS, Lorie O'Brien served.as Principal from 2002:through.2005:, foil owe.d:;..by.current Principal Terry

WHEREAS,a 1Viarachi Band was added to the school music:pi`ogram in 2003; allcl:

allowing for longer::class periods and a wide .variety of exploratory classes to;:expose=students to many

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that.the Board of Supervisors hereby congratulates and honors
the Administration, Faculty, Sta:tt, and Students ak Grove Middle School, on the occasion of its
