DATE: April 1, 2008 .k County COOK SUBJECT: Appropriation Adjustment SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDATION: APPROVE Appropriation Adjustment #6b2l authorizing the transfer of appropriations in the amount of $93,238 from the Office of the Sheriff (0255) to General Services, Fleet Operations (0063) to purchase four vehicles for the Office of the Sheriff to provide patrol services. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This action increases appropriations in General Services, Fleet Operations (0063) and reduces appropriations in Office of the Sheriff (0255) by $93,238. There is no additional net county cost. III. BACKGROUND: MOTCO was established to develop an active partnership in line with the National Strategy for Maritime Security to conduct critical infrastructure protection. The Army offered piers and office space with which to operate marine patrol activities and sub- station space to conduct training. A memorandum of agreement was put into place for the no-cost berthing of marine patrol vessels to be purchased in the future and the use of a no-cost facility for a substation. The four vehicles being purchased will provide the Deputy Sheriff's assigned to MOTCO with patrol vehicles. These vehicles will be fully funded by the U.S. Army though the MOTCO contract.
