SUBJECT: In the Matter of Amending Resolution No. 2007/32 to Provide for General Salary Increases
for County Elected and Appointed Department Heads, Management Employees, Exempt
Employees and Unrepresented Employees
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt attached Resolution No. 2008/166 amending Resolution No. 2007/32 that provides for a program of
compensation and benefits for County Elected and Appointed Department Heads, Management Employees,
Exempt Employees and Unrepresented Employees.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The impact through Fiscal Year 2008/09 is estimated not to exceed $30,000.
BACKGROUND:
Effective upon adoption, this Resolution amends Board of Supervisors' Resolution No. 2007/32 to delete the
paragraph titled "Sixth Salary Step" and replace it with the following for those classifications listed in Appendix D:
Classifications.in Appendix D designated as safety classifications (for retirement plan purposes), and assigned
to the Office of the Sheriff, shall receive an added step increase as follows:
Beginning January 1, 2008, (Sworn) classifications with less than five (5) steps in the salary range, or
classifications which have a one-step salary range shall be eli le for an additional salary step in the amount of
two and one-half percent (2.5%) upon meeting.both of the f911ow ng two conditions: 1) H ve a total of sixty (60)
months of Contra Costa County service in a sworn classlficatio in the Sheri Office and 2) have eighteen
(18) months at the top step of a salary range in a classification lis e n Append

The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors in its capacity as governing Board of the
County of Contra Costa and all districts of which it is ex-officio governing Board RESOLVES
THAT:
WHEREAS, the. Board adopted Resolution No. 2007/32 that provides for a program of
compensation and benefits for County Elected and Appointed Department Heads,
Management Employees, Exempt Employees and Unrepresented Employees;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Resolution No. 2007/32 is amended to delete
the paragraph titled "Sixth Salary Step" and replace it with the following for those
classifications listed in Appendix D:
Classifications in Appendix D designated as safety classifications (for retirement plan
purposes), and assigned to the Office of the Sheriff, shall receive an added step increase as
follows:
