Adjournment April 15,.2008
On this day the Board of Supervisors adjourned this meeting in honor of Robert John Conaty
Dec. 31, 1923 -April 1, 2008 Resident of Walnut Creek Bob passed away peacefully on April 1,
2008 after a brief illness, at the age of 84. He was born in San Francisco, spent his childhood in
El Cerrito, and graduated from Richmond High School. A proud veteran of WWII, Bob enlisted
in the U.S. Navy at age 17. He was in a construction battalion of the Sea Bees,where he saw
combat in various areas of the South Pacific. After his discharge he returned home and attended
college and eventually went to work for the Contra Costa County Assessors Office, where he
was a Supervising Draftsman for 42 years. In 1954 he married Patricia Shea,who predeceased
him in 2003. He and Patricia made their home and raised their family in Walnut Creek since
1969. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his family; son and daughter-in-law, John and
Ann Conaty, and their children Allison, Joe, Katie, and Tony; daughter and son-in-law, Karen
and Matt Nethercutt, and their children Megan and Will. He is also survived by his cousins
Lorrie Ambrosino &Frank Moglia, and their families. "Grandpa" always had a smile on his face
and a twinkle in his eye. We will all miss the weekly Saturday night dinners we shared together.
Grandpa was always interested in the day-to-day activities of his children and grandchildren and
his enthusiasm is irreplaceable.
