No County costs: CRILDREN'.S IMPACT STATEMENT: Th'e Community Services Bureau of the Employment & Human Services Department's Head Start program 'supports`three of Contra Costa County's community outcomes - Outcome 1: "Children Readyfor and Succeeding in School," Outcome 3: "Families that are Economically Self-sufficient;" and, Outcome 4: "Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing." .These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition,'and health services to low- income children throughout Contra Costa County. BACKGROUND: On February 26, 2008 the Employment & Human Services Department received notification of this funding allocation from the California Department of Education. The State routinely identifies.and distributes funds to its child development contractors, sometimes late in the year, for child development programs. Approval of these agreements will allow the Department to operate State Preschool programs with PreKindergarten Literacy components which will assist enrolled children and their.families to greater success in their future school '.years.
