SUBJECT: Interagency Agreement with the Contra Costa County Office of Education for
Workforce Investment Act (WIA) mandated in-school WIA Youth Services.
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment & Human Services Director, or designee, on behalf of
the Workforce Development Board (WDB), to execute an Interagency Agreement with the Contra
Costa County Office of Education, not to exceed $75,000, for Workforce Investment Act (WIA) in-
school Youth Services for the period January 1, 2008 through June 30, 2008.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$75,000 No County Costs; 100% Federal Workforce Investment Act. Districts 3 and 5.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
Services to be offered through this Interagency Agreement directly support two of the Children's
Report Card community outcomes: 1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; and, 2)
"Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood".
BACKGROUND:

BACKGROUND: (Con't):
Development Board of Contra Costa (WDB) and the Youth Council, awarded this Interagency
Agreement to the Contra Costa County Office of Education under the open bid process, Request for
Interest 332, for in-school and follow-up youth services as mandated by the Workforce Investment
Act (WIA). Services,include vocational assessment, job and apprenticeship placements, employment
credentialing, career preparation services, job retention support, mentoring and individualized
program planning, and Foster Youth Case Management Services to at-risk youth in Far East Contra
