RECOMMENDATION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or Designee, to
execute contracts with the agencies listed below in an amount not to exceed $181,671 to
provide supported work environments for California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids
(CaIWORKs) clients with learning difficulties for the period July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
This contract supports two of the community outcomes established in the Children's Report
Card: 3)"Families that are Economically Self Sufficient'; 4) "Families that are Safe, Stable and
Nurturing", by providing assistance to program participants to achieve self-sufficiency.
BACKGROUND:
The Supported Work Services Program is half of an overarching program initiating more in-
depth State mandated services to CaIWORKs clients who have been assessed as possibly
suffering from learning difficulties. Rubicon and ARC provide multilingual and culturally sensitive
case management,job placements and retention services geared toward individuals with
learning disabilities and need additional support to become self-sufficient through unsubsidized
employment.
