County 1K DATE: May 8, 2007 SUBJECT: APPROVE Appropriations and Revenue Adjustment for Employment& Human Services SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: Employment and Human Services (0501, 0503): APPROVE Appropriation and Revenue Adjustment No. 5t647 authorizing new revenue in the amount of$31,407 from Aging and Adult Services appropriating it to fund MediCal Training, Administrative Services (Dept. 0501), Staff Development Division, for Fiscal Year 2006-2007. FISCAL IMPACT: $31,407 Increase estimated revenue and appropriation allocations of Dept. 0503 with 100%State MediCal funds. BACKGROUND: The Department requests to add one (1) full time Social Services Staff Development Specialist to be assigned to provide MediCal program training through the Staff Development Division. The Department has an increased demand for MediCal program training for Aging and Adult Services and California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CaIWORKs) staff. The training must include ongoing training in eligibility determination and benefit calculations in the many MediCal programs as I impacts CalWORKs cases. After reviewing current Staff Development staff assignments there is an insufficient number of training staff available to meet the increased MediCal training demands. The training includes information critical to meet ongoing State and federal regulatory changes, performance standards and curer service needs for all staff assigned to the MediCal programs.
