SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: Approve and Authorize the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract with Contra Costa Crisis Center in an amount not to exceed $50,000 for 24-hour Emergency Response Program telephone services for the period July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008. FISCAL IMPACT: $50,000 EHSD Administrative Costs: 20% County, 40% Federal, 40% State CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This contract supports three of the five community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card: 2) "Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; 4) "Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing"; and 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families" by providing individuals a means to address crisis issues. These services support both the Children and Family Services (CFS) Division and the Aging and Adult Services (AAS) Division. Contractor will provide twenty-four (24) hour crisis line telephone support, referrals and immediate intervention and counseling to at-risk children and adults dealing with critical issues such as suicide, homelessness, grief, abuse, and neglect.
