SUBJECT: Contract with Contra Costa Crisis Center for 24-hour Emergency Response Program telephone
services.
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve and Authorize the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract with
Contra Costa Crisis Center in an amount not to exceed $50,000 for 24-hour Emergency Response Program
telephone services for the period July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$50,000 EHSD Administrative Costs: 20% County, 40% Federal, 40% State
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
This contract supports three of the five community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card: 2)
"Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; 4) "Families that are Safe, Stable, and
Nurturing"; and 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families"
by providing individuals a means to address crisis issues.
BACKGROUND:
The 24-hour Emergency Response Program telephone service provided by the Contra Costa Crisis Center under
this contract assists EHSD in meeting its obligations under the federa mandated 24-hour Children's

BACKGROUND (Con't): Contract with Contra Costa Crisis Center
Protective Services Emergency Response Program. These services support both the Children and Family
Services (CFS) Division and the Aging and Adult Services (AAS) Division. Contractor will provide twenty-four
(24) hour crisis line telephone support, referrals and immediate intervention and counseling to at-risk children
and adults dealing with critical issues such as suicide, homelessness, grief, abuse, and neglect. (20-417-34)
