CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Receiving centers support four of Contra Costa County's community outcomes: "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; "Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families." Receiving centers provide a safe, child friendly place in the community for children who have been removed from their homes. They help meet children's food, clothing, shelter, medical and mental health care needs, while limiting disruption in school. BACKGROUND: Agencies providing receiving center services were selected from the open bid process, Request for Proposals (RFP) #1086. The receiving centers provide shelter, food, toys, clothing, public health nurses and medical referrals as part of a continuum of care for children. The centers serve children who have been removed from their homes and allow Employment and Human Services (EHSD) to increase the number of children who can safely return to their families or relatives without going to emergency foster care. By providing time for family assessment, the centers reduce the number of disruptive placements to which a child is subjected. . . '. , 4 {\ 1 ,\ ,
