Valentine, Director 1 S 0 Employment and Human Services DATE: June 12, 2007 County SUBJECT: Grant Application to the Northern California Grantmakers for funding to support the Bay Point Works Youth Achievement and Possibilities (YAP/gap) program SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, on behalf of the Service Integration Program, to apply for and accept grant funding in the amount of$800 from the Northern California Grantmakers to support the Bay Point Works' Youth Achievement and Possibilities/gap (YAP/gap) program. (#29-251-0) FISCAL IMPACT: $800 No County funds. Northern California Grantmakers funding. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This contract supports all of the community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card: 1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; 2)"Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; 3) "Families that are Economically Self Sufficient"; 4) "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and, 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Chil en and Families," by providing a healthy, nurturing environment for child to grow and develop. YAP/gap assists families by offering a structured program of age-appropriate.educational and enrichment activities to young children during the"gap" in the school calendar between the end of summer school and the beginning of the new school year. The Program provides safe activities for children during the four major school vacations. The program continues to refine, improve, and expand the innovative services for low income, working Bay Point families.
