FISCAL IMPACT: The Health Services Department has estimated an annual cost of$245, 401.74 for this request which is offset by Direct Medical Education Funding, Indirect Medical Education Funding, and Federally Qualified Health Center funds. BACKGROUND: This request is in accordance with the new work hour rules limiting the amount of time a Resident can work weekly implemented by the Residency Review Committee. Also, Contra Costa Regional Medical Center has signed an agreement with the.National Resident Matching Program expanding their obligation of positions for the program from ten to thirteen. Thus creating a legal and operational requirement to provide three additional positions. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Should this request not be granted, the County will be out of compliance with the Residency Review Committee and National Resident Matching Program agreements.
