FISCAL IMPACT: The total annual cost associated with this action is $12,834. However, the costs of this personnel action are offset by the cost savings from the elimination of the Community Services Executive Director position. There are no net County general fund costs associated with these actions. BACKGROUND: The Community Services Bureau is requesting the reclassification of the current Network Administrator I to Network Administrator II. The duties of both positions are identical. However, the classes are distinguished from each other based upon the allocation factors of: (1) Complexity of Systems, (2) Independence of Action, (3) Consequence of Error, and (4) Overall Structure of Unit. Based upon an audit of the position conducted by Human Resources, it was determined that, as a result of the natural growth of the infrastructure of Community Services' IT networks, the Network Administrator I meets the requirements set forth in each one of the aforementioned factors. RESULT OF NEGATIVE ACTION : This action is appropriate under the personnel guidelines CONTINUED ON ATTACHMENT: ✓ YES SIGNATURE: t/ RECOMMENDATION OF COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR RECOMMENDATION OF BOARD COMMITTEE _&,,t--APPROVE OTHER SIGNATURE(S): ACTION OF BOOD N l O APPROVE AS RECOMMENDED OTHER VOTE OKSUPERVISORS I HEREBY CERTIFY THAT THIS IS A TRUE UNANIMOUS (ABSENT ) AND CORRECT COPY OF AN ACTION TAKEN AND ENTERED ON THE MINUTES OF THE BOARD AYES: NOES: OF SUPERVISORS ON THE DATE SHOWN. In meeting the criteria in each of the allocation factors established as a result of this study, it has been demonstrated that the incumbents current duties and responsibilities are most appropriately classified as a Network Administrator II. Therefore, if this action is not approved, the incumbent will not be appropriately classified according to the duties assigned to the position. As the only high-level professional IT person in Community Services, this could have a significantly negative impact. J v C UvL j DO .0 L DJU_1 NRR_•' d_ '..0 ST l OFFICE OF DATE September 26,2006- .
