SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION ADOPT Resolution No. 2007/246,to supersede in its entirety Resolution No. 2007/194 which was adopted by the Board of Supervisors on April 10, 2007,to designate Supervisor Uilkema as the County's "Elected Official Liason" for the purposes of the County's application to join ICLEI -Local Governments for Sustainability Cities for Climate Protection Program. BACKGROUND In November 2006,the Board approved Resolution 2006/740 and to join ICLEI -Local Governments for Sustainability(formerly known as the "International Council of Local Environmental Initiatives") Cities for Climate Protection(CCP) Campaign. In February 2007,the Board authorized allocation for initial annual membership fee to join ICLEI. ICLEI is an international membership associ ' n o local governments dedicated to addressing environmental problems through local actions. Local jurisdictions joining ICLEI are asked to identify elected official liaisons on their applications,to serve as the main points of contact for other elected officials in their jurisdictions, for other ICLEI members, and for ICLEI staff. The Elected Official Liaison helps keep the elected body aware of progress made by the local government in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, helps motivate,local government staff and community members to accomplish climate protection goals, and informs elected and appointed officials of grant, financing, and recognition opportunities. Supervisor Uilkema is interested in the County's climate protection efforts and willing to act as the County's Elected Official Liaison.
