BACKGROUND:
I
Determination of paternity is a vital element in most child support obligation cases and DCSS has
contracted with LabCorp since July 1, 2001 for the required testing procedures necessary to fulfill this
need. LabCorp continues to be the solitary vendor to meet all of our requirements in this area, while
being able to reduce their cost to us in each of the past 3 years.
CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to approve this request would restrict the Department of Child Support Services' ability to
collect child support for the children of Contra Costa County.
