AGENDA DESCRIPTION:
ADD one (1) full-time Forensic Analyst-Project(6CW1) position (Un-representedi: CANCEL one
(1) full-time Crime Lab Aide-Project(6D71) position (Represented).
JUSTIFICATION:
• In 2006. the Forensics Division was awarded a grant under the President's DNA
Initiative. DNA Backlog Reduction Grant with the U.S. Department of Justice. The
awarded grant was utilized to fund a Forensic Analyst-Project and a Laboratory Aide-
Project positions. Subsequent to the award. the original grant amount increased
substantially. The increase in grant money now permits the department to add a second
full-time DNA Forensic Analyst position versus a support position ;Laboratory Aide- i
Project). The requested position will further support the Forensics Division in expediting
their backlog of DNA cases.
• Deputy Sheriffs Association will be notified of the cancellation of the Crime Lab Aide-
Project position.
• The Forensic Analyst-Project position will be filled by the utilization of the current eligible
list.
• The total annual cost associated with this action is approximately 5127.209.60 and 100%
funded by the NIJ FY 2006 Forensic DNA Capacity Enhancement Program.
• Effective day following Board action.
