SUBJECT: Position Adjustment Resolution # 20260
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number 20260 to REALLOCATE the salary of Senior Forensic
Toxicologist (6CTB) from QT5-1820 ($6225-7567)to QT5-1917 ($6853-8330) (Represented).
FISCAL IMPACT:
The total annual cost associated with this action is $12,642 and 100% funded by the Office of the
Sheriff.
BACKGROUND:
The Department requests the reallocation of the Senior Forensic Toxicologist classification due to the
pay equity adjustments given to the Forensic Toxicologist class series and the Supervising Forensic
Toxicologist during the 2006 labor contract negotiations. The pay equity adjustments has resulted in
compaction with the Forensic Toxicologist III and Senior Forensic Toxicologist and a large salary gap
between the Supervising Forensic Toxicologist and Senior Forensic Toxicologist. With the
reallocation of Senior Forensic Toxicologist, the salary gap between the respective classifications will
return to 10.0%.
CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should this request not be granted, the incumbents will not be appropriately compensated for duties
performed.
