V SUBJECT: P300#20325 - Human Resources Department SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number ESTABLISHING the class of Labor Relations Assistant(AG7C),ALLOCATING it to the salary schedule at salary level 8851308($3,749-$4,557)[Unrepresented]and RECLASSIFYING a Clerk-Senior Level(JWXC)position#6339 at salary level 3RX 1033($2,848-$3,637)[Represented]and its incumbent to a Labor Relations Assistant(AG7C)position at salary level 8851308($3,749- $4,557)[Unrepresented] FISCAL IMPACT: Upon approval,the total annual cost and net county cost of this action will be$6,761,offset in FY 07-08 by savings from vacant positions. BACKGROUND: Due to a major reorganization of the Human Resources Department, HR Staff has determined that the Labor Relations Unit is in need of specialized technical position which could assist in the day to day operation of the Unit by performing a wide variety of technical and clerical activities that do not require the individual attention of the Chief of Labor Relations or the Principal Labor Relations Negotiator. Additionally, HR Staff has reviewed the duties performed by the incumbent and found that she is performing technical and clerical duties indicative of the Labor Relations Assistant classification. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this request is not approved, the Human Resources Department will not be able to effectively provide employer-employee relations to the County and the incumbent will not be appropriately classified.
