FISCAL IMPACT: No general funds are associated!i with this action. Funds will be generated through airport revenue and federal grant monies. BACKGROUND: Public Works requested an external and internal survey to see if the salary of the Director of Airports is competitive in the current market place. Staff conducted an external salary survey and found that the current salary for this classification is 13,% lower than the market rate. The proposed salary level will bring it within the market rate. Staff conducted an internal survey as well and found that there was salary compaction between the Assistant Director and Director of Airports. This action will alleviate current internal salary compaction between the Director and Assistant Director of Airports as well as increase the salary's competitiveness in the external market. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Failure to reallocate the salary upward will result in an internal and external salary compaction for this classification.
