SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number 20221 to reclassify one (1) full-time Administrative Services
Assistant III (UREPRESENTED) position to Workforce Service Specialist (UNREPRESENTED) in the
Employment and Human Services Department.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The annual cost associated with this action is $7968 and 100% funded by the Workforce Investment Act.
BACKGROUND:
The Employment and Human Services Department submitted a request to study the duties of an
Administrative Services Assistant III position in the Workforce Development Board Bureau.
The incumbent assigned to this position is responsible for program oversight and development of workforce,
business, and economic service contracts and activities. This includes policy and program development;
administrative staffing for the Business & Economic Development Committee; planning, developing and
monitoring service contracts and funding sources. Additionally, the incumbent advises the Workforce
Development Board and the Business & Economic Development Committee on programmatic decision making
and development activities.
Staff has conducted a study of the duties performed by the incumbent, met with the incumbent's supervisor
and it has been determined that the duties of the position have increased and constitute a higher level of work.
Therefore, it is appropriate to reclassify the position without examination as authorized by Personnel
Management Regulation 503 to Workforce Services Specialist.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this action is not approved, this position will not be appropriately classified.
