FISCAL IMPACT None BACKGROUND The Director of the Office of Children Services is a single position classification responsible for monitoring the range of children's services including revenue enhancement strategies, coordination and integration of County and contracted services; conduct strategic planning regarding children services programs; and evaluating department performance measures and outcomes. Since this classification is a high-echelon position within the County Administrator's Office, responsible for determining and advocating substantive program policy, the classification should be exempt. County Counsel has amended the Ordinance as required for exempting this position, pending Board approval. RESULT OF NEGATIVE ACTION If this action is not approved, the County Administrator will not be able to ensure maximum responsiveness of this high- echelon classification. Furthermore, the flexibility in filling this highly important position will be significantly compromised.
